They are available from multiple sources, online, from $274 for a .45 Colt to $400 for a .45-70.

"Pencil Necks Geeks"in the front office the problem

Sort of a hijack and yet not.

What is the deal, people are scrambling to find HR1871 rifles and especially 357 and 45-70 varieties and the factory isn't going into greater production?

Personally I don't have a rifle in 45.70.sooo,I want one!The H&R I can afford, would I like to have the Quigley Sharps?you betcha I would, but don't have 2 grand to spend. All the shop's I visited could not order them, there were none.I checked with Whitakers in Kentucky and Franklins in Tennessee, nothing in stock. Why? No answer here.I was told by one shop to check back in July. But all this does't mean I will pay an unfair price for one.I can wait if I have too.

And a big warm welcome to you Buster. Are you set up to shoot cast in your new H&R?

I would like to but not sure if the BC has the right barrel for that. And I have no experience with cast

Mine shoots cast just fine, have to watch the fat boolits as there isn't much of a throat, but that is a easy fix. Do a search and you will find how to fix that.
In fact it has never shot those other kind of bullets what ever you call them.

I can tell you that H&Rs work very well with cast. My .45-70 isn't a Buffalo Classic, it's just a normal H&R with a 22 inch barrel. Cost me $200 and will shoot inch and an eigth groups at 100 yards pretty easily. The boolit is from a group buy ran here some years ago, 365 grains over enough Universal Clays to get to 1300 fps. Mild load, very nice.

Get one, you won't reget it.

I bought a .458" neck and throat reamer, and opened the throat up a tad bit in mine. That allows me to chamber 500 grain RN boolits - if I really want the recoil...
