    calling hornady

    I did call
sent them e-mail with pictures and a bunch of different thread form different forum on the subject and
    NO RESPONSE
and on the phone the answer was
our engineers said its fine as it is now
and its probably that we are doing something wrong....
all I have to say is that when there is a couple of dozen guys that complain's about the same thing there is some truth in it....

If it ain't right, ship the thing back to Hornady and tell them to fix it or give you your money back. I don't have the problem, but that's what I would do.

    hornady press

its the only flaw that it has according to a lot of reloaders
but for cast bullet shooter its I think the perfect press able to put your die and powder measure where you want is a big plus for us cast bullet shooters
and with the fix done which is easy to do no more problem
just like theire earlier model with the spring to eject they have correct it by this ezeject model
I would not trade it for a Dillon which I have also but nerver has versatile has the hornady
the dillon is a fine press but prefer the hornady
the solution was put only to help the ones who experience this difficulty
nothing is perfect but that press is near

I checked mine last night and with the handle all the way up / shell plate all the way down, the primer seater hex is bottomed out on the cast base of the press, so I don't understand what the spacer is going to do. Can someone please explain how the spacer helps?

    press

you are correct it bottom on the press
the disk does only give the press more leverage in seating the primer
just like when resizing the press get's its full strength at the end of the cycle
so the arm of your press being at a different angle
because of the disck give it more strength to seat this primer....
    hope you understand

So you are just making "priming" happen at a different portion of the handle stroke?

    stroke

    yes
in doing so the force applied on the arm transfer much more force to prime being at a different angle
so instead of applying let say 10 pounds of pushing on the arm only 5 is required to do the same job..(priming)

I see. Well I bet it would be simple to mock something up as a spacer to at least try it. Can't hurt to try, right.

    that its

the .200 come from a thread on a forum which I tried to locate but did not succed
and yes I have tried it in difference thickness and .200 is perfect
before putting the disk I got miss fire at the range because of high primer
now with approximately half the force all the primer are seated below the rim of the case
before I had to really push hard on the arm and even then I had to continue seating some of the primer on a different priming tool
    this specially with CCI primers

I hate CCI primer for just that reason. They are way too hard to seat for my taste. Wolf and Winchester slide right in for me, but I'm going to try the spacer just to see the difference.
