I'm not a fan of putting on gas checks at all. I make the exception for my deer rifle only. It's an AR platform, which can be picky about what will reliably feed. These are the Lee C309-170-F. (Everything else I own wants to be fed from a $100+ mold from the other side of the planet.) They never fail to feed. They go where I say. And they expand to 3/4". I don't really play with it much. So, it's worth the extra time & effort. I just cast a handful or two, from time to time, when I'm making a pile of something else. This little batch is already more than I like to deal with. I do cheat a little bit. I set my 300BLK seater to the bullet length and push the checks on with the stem from the push through sizer. After that, they go through the sizer backwards. Gets them square on every time.

Last night I finished trimming and chaffering all of my new and used 308 win. brass. It's all in freezer bags and ammo cans, ready to be loaded.

I'm starting 6mm Remington this evening.
I still have quite a few new 6mm brass that needs to be sized, trimmed, and chaffered. I also have quite a bit of once fired 6mm Remington brass that will also need to be sized and trimmed.

Used up the last of my Re22 to load some 140 gr JSP for my 7x57 Mauser. I ended up with 25 rounds and a small amount of powder which I lit and watched it burn.
    Yep, Re22 is slow burning…….

I did cast some. Had hard time to keep mold up to temperature, finally found a rhythm. I’ve powder coated about 40 of them for load development but haven’t loaded any yet - we’ve had a break in rainy weather so was riding around

Had a breakthrough in my development of rice wasp shot loads and snake shot loads using cheap gelatin medicine capsules. Finally got the process nailed down

When I took the shot I saw stuff go past my head at high velocity to behind me and felt juice spritzer my face. I looked around for wasp bits and could find none then realized what went past my head was pureed wasp bits.

How far away can you shoot at a piece of paper to where it won't break it? I'm curious how far it carries retained energy, you are the first one I've seen make anti insect ammunition with rice. I'm impressed at how effectively your hand load obliterated the wasp without causing more than the very slightest of injuries to the painted surface. It looked like he got struck by a meteor

At ~4ft it knocks them down but doesn't shred them. The last wasp I hit at 3ft had its guts hanging out. 2ft is sublime. Keep in mind that shot was early in the load development before the gel capsules and only 1/2 the rice payload the capsules will hold. That load was capped with melted wax and it is possible that the wax cap is what hit that wasp.

Switched to gelatin capsules here: https://castboolits.gunloads.com/sho...-38-45LC/page6

The .38 capsule load is brutal
