I don't shoot for groups and chrony at the same time. Just set the chrony when looking back at the barrel.

Adam - cast the S.H. into boolits so you can add just a bit at a time. Add just a bit to t he pot of your R.S. to see how much is needed. Load some dummies for fit & function/size, then test/shoot some. If not right, recycle then add a bit more. ...

45ACP, 38 are low pressure loads so the 'soft' works. 9, 357 & 40 are not low pressure. Other problem with soft for rifle is trying to prevent swelling of the nose when seating. Just pulled a dozen for the BO that wouldn't chamber. The 30/30 is a...

Roto says that testing an ingot doesn't work due to grain struct. of the high Sb alloy. Should be 36 or so.

I actually ended up with 6gr of cfe pistol & shot in 1:8 10" BO pistol. Unfortunately the adj. GB is fouled so will not cycle the AR. Accuracy is decent with SeeAll sight @ 50 & just a front stand.

OOB thought was incorrect - looking closely at the case head - what is left of it. Totally extruded into the bolt face. Bolt had to be locked up. I'd be surprised if it unlocked by gas pressure at all. edit: yes the primer was dented. No there...

Slam fire due to bad HS I assume. IIRC, I tossed that brass but saw no damage to it. I've gone through >500 rnds since then, no problem. Found case a LONG way from incident. Also had a total case head separation in 40SW. Recovered the case head,...

Sorry, that is a myth. DPMS (pre-buy-out) factory 308 carbine. Shoulder just a hair too long. 40.5gr 4895 under a 165 cast. Safety ON and trigger NOT pulled. Nice chunk of concrete missing. Nothing through my shoulder, did take a long time...

dimaprok 50yds ~1700 fps 185gr GC with BLL. I'm not that great a shot but I don't see any 'fliers' there. At least it was below 100F that day. Gray powder is tin, brownish is zinc.

Just not going to happen with an AR. And when YOU have had one - OOB - , you will believe that even the design can be beat. It is NOT a myth. I agree that you MUST do a chamber check on a FTF in ANY gun.

I've bought 'once fired' and found it wasn't. IIRC amscore uses a stepped brass vs tapered case. If actually from a range it's probably ok. I did use an FC 40 that blew the case head off, known & recalled but somebody used it.

I'll swag it. Dirty chamber at shoulder and a poor carrier. Seen too many that have very little metal at the mag lip area. OOB fire. Case blew out through the feed ramp, took out extractor & bottom of carrier.

So it appears the primary problem is with LP that have a small flash hole and large area under the primer. The tolerance of any chamber/ammo will allow the primer to move relative to the case. The primer MAY get smashed back into the pocket. ...

Note to self - do NOT used enlarged flash hole brass for standard loads! I used to shoot a lot of light loads in 30/30 thin brass (but it is rimed H.S.). Never noticed the problem even when I (mistakenly) used magnum LRP. It is the delay between...

Don't know if it is really set back as I think of. Primer pops, pushed the case back to the bolt and the powder charge pushes the shoulder FORWARD. Opening up the flash hole is an attempt to get the powder to light right away. Head space is the...

There is a story (true) of a kid shooting a B.B. with 12ga slug, bear got a bite on the kid who had to basically walk to camp to get rescued. A wounded (3 legged) pig gets 100 yds in ~10 sec., bears are faster. 00 do anything but tick them off...

IIRC you can only get a certain 'type' in EU, TFIG. Check with your local paint manuf. for non-architectural powder. Their distributors may be able to tell you which distributors sell to the PC shops - unless you want 55gal drums of PC.

Bloodman - WD from the mould is 400F to 32F(?) from an alloy that is liquid, ~700F. Grain structure changes with cooling. Fast cooling 'freezes' the grain, locking it's structure. Reheating will allow the structure to 'unlock' some. So - casting...
