What exactly is the purpose of "friending" someone on the forum? What does this allow or do for individuals? Just asking the question because I honestly don't know.

My interpretation of the "Friends" list is it's just a social media thing.
A way of building street creds, amongst the group.
Shows others that you are socially active and at day's end, you're an okay guy.
The option to "Unfriend" is available, so that's a good thing.
Big picture, I'm here for a short period of time.
