new tip for a turret press - or not

I apologize if someone already thought of this but: I 'm setting up the Hornady lock ringed dies on the lee classic and one has the allen head lined up towards the center and no way to tighten it. Looking at the Lee lock ringed dies I have I I turned in the allen head screw till the ring just turned, installed a HF #212 O-ring under the Hornady dies and tightened them down onto the turret. They hold tight!
Cycled about 50 round and no loosening! I hope this is helpful.

Why not just turn the lock ring down where it needs to be and then back the whole die assembly out til you can get to the set screw? Done this many times.
If it doesn't shoot an ounce of lead, its a wimp load.

I make my adjustments on the die, then tighten into the press.

If I try to tighten the set screw with the ring already snugges, i have to use a wrench to remove the die.

When close to where I need to be, I back the die and ring out a ¼ to ½ turn, then make my adjustment and snug the die back up.

Any future adjustments, I back out the die and locked ring, loosen ring, make adjustment, tighten ring then snugg die and locked ring back down.

There are approximately 0.071" per revolution of the die for making gross adjustments. The minor 0.001-0.005 adjustments are more by trial and error.

I have tried locking the ring on the die when already snugged into the press, amd don't care for the process. If that works for you, though, keep doing it.

I've used 7/8" ID machine shims under the jam nut to change height of the jam nut, generally gets the set screw clocking in a different place.

They can work as a lazy man's neck sizing adjustment too.

I've done that many times before as well on the single stage. I have a fused wrist and have difficulty using my hand from certain positions. This was just an idea inspired by looking at the Lee lock nuts.
