Lee 240 grain Round Nose in a Rossi 92 44 Magnum

Hi everyone, I would like to see if anyone has loaded the Lee 240 Grain round nose boolits for the Rossi 92 lever gun. I was wondering if the round nose would be an issue with the tubular magazine rifle.

    Thanks!

    .

I would think if the loaded round didn't exceed OAL specs, it would feed OK.

RN ammo shouldn't cause any issues when contacting another loaded cartridge in the magazine, like spire point might.

There may be an accuracy issue, should the boolit OD not agree with the bore ID

I’ve never done it. But I’d feel safe doing it the same as I feel safe using RN in 30-30.

    heres a fun experiment
take your round nose boolit and an unprimed case
how far can the round nose fit into the empty primer pocket
as much depth as the firing pin goes for a discharge?

I have managed to get kind of old without blowin meself up - figuring I can make 100 and have some fun along the way if I dont do something stupid - I use flat meplat boolits in tube mags - particularly with rounds like 44/40 and 45/70 where they tend to stack pretty straight in the tube

before everybody commences yelling --I still have a 348 and have had a couple 30/30's - but its really hard to get those tapered rounds to line up nose to tail in a tube - not so much with the little fat rounds .

Your fingers - Your choice - poke that nose in the primer pocket will tell ya what is possible (even if its unlikely)

I have decided to not take any chances and just use RNF cast boolits in the carbine. No sense taking any chances, though those RN lee boolits just rain out of that six cavity mold.
