    209 primers on a Zouave

Is there any way of using 209 shotgun primers on a Zoli Zouave?

I'll bet if you look around you could find an adapter of some sort. Obviously they're not going to slide on over the nipple. Maybe if you were to cut the nipple off near the base and enlarge the hole a bit with a drill bit you could create a cup for the primer to sit in.

Check out https://www.warrencustomoutdoor.com/mag-spark.html for an adapter using 209 primers for percussion arms.

Thanks Nueces, that looks like the cat's meow. After spotting #11 caps @ $9.99 a hundred at the lgs, (I left them right there on the shelf) I'm looking for alternatives. Musket caps are non existant. I'll save my #11's for cap & ball and use 209's for the Zouave.

I had that conversion on a Navy Arms Buffalo Carbine & a Zouave, lost them both in a fire. Very reliable!

The first thing that I did to my Zouave that I bought in 1968 was change out the musket cap nipple and replaced it with a #11 cap nipple. It has worked fine since 1968. I haven't shot it yet in 2021.
