I removed the bad element from mine. I drew a line across the top of the plate using a square and the center of the wire. Clamped in the drill press vise and marked the center of the edge. I drilled a small hole into the channel where element is . Go slow and you can tell when you are in the channel. Used a metal rod to drive out the old element. I use a replacement element off the web. It was a chore but it worked.

Don't know anything about the Lyman unit but do see that Midway carries a replacement element which leads me to think it is replaceable. That's assuming there's only the one model.

Lyman made both 120 Volt and 240 Volt heaters. Is it possible that you have a 240 Volt heater. If you do and try to use it on 120 Volts it will only put out 1/4 of the heat it is supposed to put out.
    Some times it's the pot,
    Some times it's the pan,
It might even be the skillet,
But, most of the time, it's the cook.

Wouldn't the 240v plug be different?????

I tried the plastic heating roll I posted.
    It does get hot.
I used a router control to adjust the temp, and it worked.
The shape of the Lyman sizer, and the length of the heater, makes it "not a good fit".

    That replacement heater looks interesting.
I'll search to see if I can find it cheaper.
