    Mystery Brass

I found an unusual piece of brass at the range the other day. In the pic below, the one of the left is a .300 BLK, the one in the middle is the mystery brass, and the one on the right is a .223 Rem.

The head stamp on the mystery brass says .223 Rem, so it's obviously been reformed. The overall length is 1.550" and the mouth appears the be .30 cal.

A longer version of the .300 BLK? Anyone know what this is?

if the case is .24" longer it is probably a 300 Hog HamR from Wilson
300 BLK Out case is 1.368" max
300 HamR case is 1.602" max
both can be made from 223 brass

After Googling "300 HamR" I think you are right. This brass may have just been trimmed a tad short, but otherwise it makes sense.

That’s another cartridge new to me. Yes with a case length of 1.565” that’s even closer.

I forgot about the 7.62x40wt so that is probably the case since its a little shorter than the HamR
