I am trying to figure out a load using either IMR 4227 or H335 for an VZ-58 using PC'd 200 Gr Boolits. Does any one have any suggestions for a starting point?

Do you want the action to function?

Never tried anything that heavy but would be interested in what you come up with.
8.2gr 4227 moves a 208 Amax at 1050 and cycles the action on my 300 BO not sure what the difference in pressure and case volume would be up to that 7.62x39 you might have to use something heavier than 200gr to get function right

OK so I tried some IMR 4227 today and with 11.6 grains under a 200 grain PC'd boolit I was getting a velocity of 1050ish (i don't have the data in front of me) which was my target BUT it still wouldn't cycle the action so I am going to shelve the sub sonic 7.62X39 project until cans arrive. I am hoping then it will create enough back pressure to cycle the action but we will see
was the bullet stable at such a slow speed, also what was your barrel twist?
1 in 9.45" twist and a 11.9" barrel. The 4 or so rounds of each charge I shot were stable (11 Gr-12.5 .3 Gr increments) but I HIGHLY advise anybody who is considering using this load data check stabilization for your self BEFORE shooting that load through a suppressor.
I can shoot the NOE 230gr stable subsonic in a mosin, same barrel twist as an AK. But doubt going to find a published load that will cycle.
We were able to get the NOE 247s to stabilize sub sonic out of the vz-48 as well as all of my 300 BOs but the VZs wouldn't cycle
LeveRevolution worked wonders in my SKS, forget the load. Search the threads for Junior1942's work using heavy boolits. Mr. Gibson did some follow-up work, as well. I was using NOE 316299's, and Accurate 316215B's.
