    Pedersoli Gibbs Standard rifle

    https://www.davide-pedersoli.com/sch...-standard.html

This comes in 40 or 45. Any reason to select one over the other?
The 40 used a mini design while the 45 does not.

Depends on what you are going to do with it. I have a 45 and shoot it out to 1000yd. If that is what you are going to do then the 45 might serve you better. If you are going to shoot mid range either will work. The 40 has the 16 twist barrel but that bullet they recommend is going to be short for best accuracy in that twist. A 400gr bullet would be more in line and will shoot out to 1000yd but the 45 will buck the wind better.
I shoot paper patched in my 45 and the base is cupped but not a Mini design. PP is a little more hassle but they shoot really well in the Gibbs and you don't have to worry about leading.

Bob does your 45 shoot high at 100 yards or less at the lowest peep sight settings? I have the standard Pedersoli peep sight on mine.

I don't think that I have ever shot it that close. First time out we went right to the 300yd line. I shoot it at 200yd at Oak Ridge and it goes that low without problem. I will check my book when I get home, if I remember to do that. I taller front sight will cure that problem.

Remember you can always shoot a long range rifle at a shorter distance easier that trying to shoot a short range rifle a long distance. At least easily........ My Pedersoli tang sight shoots to 50 yards with the adjustment all the way on the bottom. I changed it later for one of Lee Shaver's 1000 yard sight set, the front globe sat a bit higher and the tang went higher also.
