My nearest Bimart is over the Cascades in Ellensburg but whenever I make the pilgrimage to NCBS, Bimarts are included in my list of must visits. Since I wholesale fishing gear, I keep an eye out for 2400 at my customers who sell powders and have a permanent backorder at one of them. I haven't seen a fresh can of 2400 around here for a couple years. I have largely quit using it except for a couple guns that particularly like it (308 and 32/20).

Great shooting. That will definitely be a great squirrel/bunny load. Headshots all day.

    Are they pretty quiet?
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

Noise level is more in the .22 range. It is on order of magnitude less than a factory 06 round. This barrel is also 24" which I'm helps keep some of the noise down.

That boolit is also a very fine 'gallery load' on five grains of Red Dot (no filler) in a .303 Brit #5, scoped.Click image for larger version.

Ref: Top Right corner of this target. The group on the Left is of a LEE 7mmx130 gr. paper-patched up to .314 and shot with the same load from the same .303 at the same time for 'comparison', LOL. POA was upper left corner of the black squares. Yes, range (indoors) was very short........but..........! Both 'loads' are very satisfying out to at least 100 yards. I have two of the LEE mold: one I drilled out with a 5/16" drill to be a plain base, the other I left as a gas check type for 'high velocity' loads. I also use them both in the .32-20 Contender. What's not to like?

Yes, just ran the red dot out of an RCBS powder measure (not individually weighed). Mold is an old single cavity lee mold #90361 (C309-113-F). I just got an old Lyman mold 311316 that is almost identical. The only difference I can see is the Lyman mold has more of a thinner crimp band. Lee mold, both bands are identical.

    Holey Moley....
I've got that exact mould , a 1903-A3 Springfield 30-06 with a Weaver K4 scope , a can of Red Dot , a .309 sizer die and buckets of brass.....Lets give this load a whirl.
My old 10 grains of Unique load might just get revised....I enjoy clover leaf groups that a quarter can cover....they just make my day.

Back when I first joined this site there were so many references to the Lee "soup can" I had to ask just what it was. The reply was this described boolit. Many of the posters spoke frequently about their accuracy and enjoyment of using it in various loads. After reading through this thread the only reference to that name is written on HABCAN's target. This note is a salute to the "soup Can" which I enjoy using in a H&R 30-30 (pre-HandiRifle variant) over 5.0 Unique for more fun than I can describe. I speculate a MV at close to 1,000 fps and tight groups.
