I loaded 3.2gr of Red Dot in 9mm shooting a NOE Ranch Dog 357-135 in my Beretta PX4 Storm full size, what a sweet shooting load and accurate to boot! Got a feeling my next jug of powder might just be Red Dot.

Dang, this site encourages my trips down the rabbit hole! My latest after perusing this thread is to try Red dot in sub sonic loads for a .308 bolt gun. The particulars are;
20" Remy. 700, 1:12 twist
LC brass
fed 210
194gr cb ( wheel weights, Lee 200r,powder coated, sized .309)
6.8 gr. Red dot = 1062 fps. @ 85*
Load has passed stability test, now on to accuracy testing.

I use Red Dot for a little bit of everything. It does well in 9mm and 45ACP. It's great for cast bullets in old military calibers too. It's not my favorite powder for everything, but I could always find some back during the last shortage.

Red Dot in 12 gauge #7.5 shot, 44 Mag, 357 Mag and 45 LC and just about anything else when powder supplies dry up. Powder is easy to find at the moment and so I'm using other powders mostly. Hoarding my R.D., Green Dot and Unique for future bad times. Still have a hoard of SR7625 saved for 16 gauge too.
In 2020 congress finally forced the VA to provide Agent Orange coverage to Blue Water Navy Vietnam veterans. RIP shipmates that never received proper care.
I use 13 grains ("The Load") for 250 cast bullets in .338 Win Mag.
Used to load thousands of Peters Blue Magic and Win AA with it in 12 ga target loads, 45 ACP and 38 special too, not so much anymore, have used it in cast bullet rifle loads but that too has slowed, don't really know why though. Too many powders and too much spearmintin' left to do! you could do worse than RD, I'll have to dig some Hercules manufactured out, thanks!

Because of this thread I am playing with Red Dot in my 44 mag. using 6 gr. under a 240 gr. SWC. Nice target load. Easy to handle and can shoot it all day.
Was the Only powder I could find during last shortage. I was just learning and used in my 9mm loads. Works well, I've used other powder now but red dot does work well, and probably cheaper than any other powder

No, I have not. Yet. In Lyman #3 the velocity from Lyman's 26" barrel was 1730 fps and they list 13.0 grs as the max load. Their coal was 2.525" which is 0.070" shorter than mine so I am probably getting less pressure. That along with my 20" barrel is probably producing about 1550-1600 fps I would think.

Any velocity info on that 338 Mag loading?
