Swaging booklets for M1 .30 carbine.

I think I've read a while back about anything other than a round nose projectile has feeding problems, anyone have any feedback about this. BI've thoughts about some kind of round nose or truncated projectile for the 57 brass jackets.
    Thanks,
    Bill

That was boolets in the title, not booklets. This auto word program drives me bonkers.

I've got a round nose profile I use for heavy 30 cal but I don't see why it wouldn't work for the 5.7 bullets. Thing is, might be a bit heavy for caliber unless you trim them.

normal range for 30 carbine is 110 gr, wonder how close you could get to that? Does the round nose profile allow for an exposed lead tip? I know very little about swaging so please excuse the inexperience.

All the bullets I found were 110 grain round nose.

Yep, round nose profile will let you use lead tip. I've got a trim set to trim down 5.7 brass but I haven't played with it yet to get an idea on weights. My 30 cal set does have a point finishing die/punch to clean up the exposed lead. Don't see any reason they wouldn't run in a carbine.

Could you make one using a fired 50 bmg primer sort of a hornady half jacket??

When I first began using 5.7 for jackets I cut the necks off a bunch and trimmed them to .885. They weigh 53gr. They made a nice 6S .308 bullet that weighs 123gr. I don't know how they would feed in a 30 Carbine but they sure look nice. I made them to shoot in a 30-30 Contender.

Here's the bullets I make with the round nose. There is a little taper but I think they'd feed in the appropriate weight. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=308858

Forgive me if this is a strange sounding question. I've been trolling the threads and posts about the .30 carbine. The projectile range 110-130 gr rn. Any thing heavier and the barrel twist will not stabilize the round. However as of yet, I haven't seen anything about changing barrels. Is this doable?

Bill, I think they call it a 300 blackout I don't know of anyone making a fast twist carbine barrel.

I know nothing of any testing, but changing the bullet weight might cause problems with the carbine's operating system.
