Started usingww allow only, all clip ons, water dropped, in my 357 Rossi. Previously in my 3030 I used 5050 pbww with a gas check but in the Rossi I'm using plain based Lee 358-158 bullets with no gas check. They shoot well, loaded over 12.5 grains of 2400, just wondering how this alloy and load will perform on deer, I went to ww only in the 357 to avoid leading, any thoughts?
Water dropped wheel weights get pretty hard. I wouldn't expect much in the way of expansion from them. Penetration should be good. Just put it where it needs to go. Accuracy and placement is key.
You need a softer alloy, if it leads a bit so be it. You only get 1 or 2 shots when hunting.
I've used WW's exclusively for 20 years, kills deer, elk, bear, buffalo, antelope.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

FWIW, My Rossi 92 does not lead at all with straight wheel weights aircooled and tumble lubed with LLA. In fact it doesn't lead with a softer alloy of mixed wheel weights and range scrap. Even when driven by top end loads. As for performance on game I haven't tested it ...yet.
Cast is an adjective, a noun and a verb. Cast works as both imperative and past tense without any additional letters or helping verbs.

I do not know how large your corn crunchers get to but I would not hunt white tails in West Indiana or East ILLinois with less than a 180 grainer. Absolutely I want an exit would especially with a 357. That's why I have never popped a bean eater with less than a .375and that with a 255 grainer. Always exits.
Next I second what "rond" stated ... you need a softer mix. For whitetail we use 50-50 or 75-25. WW with range scrap or pure lead or any lead between. You can go to any roofer and offer to buy their left over pieces of lead roof flashing. Plumbers have old lead leftovers in a bucket. WW may not expand at all or just some. That means you may have only a .370 hole to leak out. If there is no exit you better be a good tracker.
What you have is good for all sorts of shooting. But to hunt whitetail get a 180 grain mold (or heavier) and you will have exit holes. Used show up $20 and less shipped. Have seen Lee's at shows for $10. No deer care who made the mold or the bullet.
