7mm Mauser and boolits lubed with Lyman Super Moly Lube

Recently aquired a really nice 1912 Chilean Steyr and was wondering if anyone out there has used cast lubed with Lyman super Moly lube? I am planning on using the RCBS 168 gr. slug.........................

Ray, I used to use Lyman's SML for all my cast bullets, but found it produced no miraculous increase in accuracy compared to other lubes, e.g., NRA 50/50, Felix Lube. One advantage, however, was its ability to flow through my lube sizer in temps. as low as 55 deg. F. OTOH, the main disadvantages were that it stained everything it came in contact with and its price.

Better hope your bullet diameter comes out at .287 or better.
Those south american 7mm"s have oversize bores.

you mean like .291 in the throat?

the lyman moly is a pretty good lube.
their super fine moly powder gets on everything after you touch it though.

I have an old '93 carbine that slugs out at .2845. The Crest was removed long before I got it. Puts the LYMAN 285405 over 16grs. 2400 into an inch at 100yds. BBL IS 19inches, scope is BURRIS 2 3/4 Scout Scope. I cast them of pure LINO TYPE, size to .285, lube is plain old 50/50. Sometimes I can't believe it. I bought the rifle out of a barrel of old '88 Commission "mausers" . $5.00 off because it was 'shorter' than the others. Still can't believe it. I also used the old NOSLER 160 to kill a lot of feral pigs.

I'm using it in my FN Mauser Sporter with 145gn RCBS boolit and 29gns 3031.

This thread reminded me that I've never gotten around to getting cast to shoot well out of my wife's 7mm Spanish sporter. it's a nicely done sporter, reblued, and a nice bolt job--also a sporter safety. But the bore's .291, so it's lousy with standard 7mm cast.

    Any suggestions on a mold?
i was thinking NOE's 293-170-FN 2 cavity GC looks pretty good.
