    can't leave well enough alone

Was using Smoke's shiney black and wondering if I can use HF for weed killer (another story for another time)
couldn't just have black so I added a goodly dose of his traffic purple to the black. Now comes out a dark cherry red. A bit of pixelation but does seems to blend better than other combinations I've seen.

My wife took her LTC class (licence to carry since Texas has open carry now) and I loaded up a bunch of 38 Sp with this color. When she asked what they were I said it was depleted uranium with a teflon coating; then thought better of it.

Turned out to be a good idea as instructors had no sences of humor.

Good one Walter! I remember back to the dreaded and feared Teflon crisis that was prevented by the news media!

I have to try some black and purple, sounds like a cool color!

Walt thanks for relating your results of the mixing of these powders.

I got the perfect plum purple color I was wanting. Mixed Smoke's traffic purple and Smoke's Shiney black. After a couple tries, blending 3 parts purple and 1 part black comes out a cool plum purple, like you would see on a 39' Ford Coupe hot rod! Used the big size Lee dippers.

Some 45/70 boolits came out beautiful.

    You got that right!
I am thinking they would also work on Squatches/ Bigfoot if the need arises.

I like them! I assume to get the effect the mix is two different types of polymers that don't commingle? in the past when I have mixed left over colors like yellow & red I ended up with orange, but the polymers were the same.

both powders were from Smoke and I'm assuming the same type but we all know what assume means.

I mixed red and yellow HF and ended up with an orange looking result which wasn't that great.

Did find the black gets used up faster than purple...not sure why but the bullets kept getting more purple as I ran through 300 of them.

Do like the color better than straight black

My cousin (USMC) beat me home from RVN in 1970 by about a month. He bought a 1970 Six-Pak Roadrunner they called Plum Crazy. This looks an awful lot like that.

I was conservative, my RR was the simple Blood Red.

Walter: Yes for me I like them more than black. I am probably in the minority here, but even though black coats well it's not my favorite PC color. I like black motorcycles, I like white motorcycles, but colors are more interesting and helpful on my bullets. Colors mean something to me. The purple colored rifle bullet is sized for .308 and the exact same bullet in green is sized for 7.62 x 39. I challenge anybody to tell the difference at a glance between a 185 grain SWC and an exact design 200 grain SWC. For me it's easy because they are a different color.

Not an Aggie, actually our colors were Red/White.

The" not great" part was the color looked great and sprayed well, just didn't tumble coat any better for me than the HF Red. It would tumble coat if you wanted to do two coats, which I don't.

Wife is the Aggie though I did attend several fire school courses at TAMU.

The orange result was closer to a brown than a bright orange.

I don't do color coding with mine--just try different combinations as I tumble coat. Gets kind of boring doing 300 or so at a time all the same hue.

Added a bit of blue to my purple/black mixture and getting sort of a blue tint gray that is more uniform in color. When that's used up back to my purple/back as I have about 1/3 cup of it already mixed up.

I mixed HF Red and Black (about 50/50) and it turned out really cool looking. Not sure I have any of those left...I'd have to look.
