    7x57 elephant gun! When you get tired of that you can re-chamber to 280 Remington. The magazine will need to be lengthened and the feed ramp opened up a bit as well. (You might not ever get tired of the 7x57. It's a well balanced cartridge.)

    Too long with bullets seated out where they should be. 6.5X55 fits in the magazine better.

    your exactly right on, my bad. My 6.5-06 was in a 700 action so no problem. In hindsite over the years it is really hard to improve on the mauser family of cartridges!
