    2400 still seems unobtanium.
About the toughest powder to find! And if you do find some, expect to pay dearly for it
Traveling through Virginia, I stopped at a large well stocked gun store. On the shelf was only a 1 lb container of 2400. Emptying my wallet - I paid $42 plus tax for that 2400 one lb container

wow good prices. last year the gun shop in Gettysburg tried to charge me $43 for a lb. now in all fairness to them they do have a reputation of getting retail plus but I think that was even a little over board.
a friend get me 2 lb. where he works he would not charge me for it. but then I have been teaching him how to run my mill and lathe.

Last week I was at Shyda's Clothing Barn & Gun Shop in Lebanon, Pa and they had all the usual Alliant powders on the shelf for $20.99, including Unique, Red Dot, Green Dot, Clay Dot, 2400 etc. The Alliant rifle powders were $23.99. The IMR powders were $24.99.

I just got two sealed 4-pounders for $40 apiece! (My 85 year old landlord was cleaning out his powder supply. Several sealed 1-pound cans of 2400, Universal Clays, and SR-4759 are coming home next week, along with a bunch of odds-and-ends in opened containers. It's good to have friends in high places!)

That's a great deal gnoahhh. Went to our local store last Saturday and got 3 1lb bottles of 700-X for $15.99 a lb.. They had LOTS of IMR powders but still no Alliant. Most 8 lbers were $214.00 each and 4 lbers were $66.00 each.

I picked up a 15 pound keg of Unique 25 years ago at the big Tulsa gun show for $75 out the door. Still using it for pistol loads and have at least 9 pounds left.

I get really frustrated about the pricing and availability of things...I offered some Unique and some W231 within the last few months on a board I frequent....of course no shipping or travel...Everyone had been complaining about the fact there was none to be had anywhere...I'd offered it all at $25 a pound which is about what I had in it with Hazmat,etc...all I got was a bunch of static about how I was a scalper....so I pulled the ad down..I "thanked" the folks that offered $18 a pound and simply gave it to a friend that is new to loading...

Like 22 ammo (I don't shoot 22 so not involved). Everyone complaining about none of it available...then someone offers it for what they paid for it and here come the whiners complaining of "what it used to cost" and calling folks scalpers...

Come to a conclusion...there are very few "buyers" and lots of tire kickers on the internet and ready to complain if someone tries to just pass along some "unicorn tears"...I never thought Unique or W231 at $25 would be considered scalping and the end result was it all went to a guy that appreciates it.

$165 plus 6% sales tax for a jug so it comes out to $22 a pound. It was available on Saturday. Before Sandy Hook it was about $155 a jug. One pounders are around $27.

Finally got over to my LGS this morning. He was asking 21.99/lb for Unique and Herco. Both were in my arms when I left.

The local gun store I frequent has Unique on the shelf semi-regularly now for $21.99 a pound. I've bought two pounds, still trying to develop loads for 45 acp and 45 lc with it.

The local BassPro has a lot of powder including Unique. Prices run $26-29/pound. The LGS has a smaller supply but the prices are the same. If you think that's too much, try pricing factory ammo these days.

I agree with you. The "you owe me a deal" entitlement mindset that runs rather strong in the shooting/gun culture is rather distasteful.

After a year of waiting and looking, I finally found a 1# can of 2400 at a local gun show. Probably got gouged for it - Paid $45 for it but like I said, been waiting for over a year. Didn't even get kissed. . . . .
After every act of terror we are told we should not judge all Muslims based on the actions of a few.

Isn't it time the 80 million LAW-ABIDING gun owners in America be given the same consideration? ?
