    OUTSTANDING! If only all our young people have this degree of respect and patriotic spirit. Our country would be nowhere near the the shape that it's currently in.

    It's not the youth that's in Congress and the White house. Also, most of our youth are patriotic. Several years ago when I was in high school. We'd have vets come every year and we'd recognize all the students who were joining the military. That gym was always full of cheering and applause. I don't remember seeing a single person not cheering for them all.

    Lest anyone forget, every man and woman that served in Iraq and Afghanistan was a volunteer. The youth of today are just fine.

    Shared to twitter in memory of my uncle Robert Brown who was killed in Korea before I was born, my uncle David who served in a tank crew in Korea, and my 6 nieces and nephews who are serving now!

    In 2012, I took my grandsons, then living in Belgium, to the Normandy beaches. At the cemetery overlooking Omaha, we saw a French priest sprinkling holy water on the crosses of American soldiers. There were reverent and respectful French school children following him around and praying over graves.

    That was a teachable moment that reframed the way that I felt about the French. I was reminded what a chaotic scene that would have been if the school children had been Americans.

    You can't see it, but there are roses laying on the ground next to each cross of an "unknown"
