    223 & 55 gr bator

As the title says, been loading the 55 gr bator using 5744 getting about 1900 fps. That's the speed I'm looking for but the accuracy is not there. Just curious what powder has worked for everybody else. I'm using a single shot so not concerned about cycling an AR.

I'm using Promo powder with that boolit in the 223. 5.5 grains only pushes it about 1700 fps. Accuarcy?, well its just my plinking load but I can cover 10 shots with a 50 cent piece at 50 yards. This is out of a 1/12 twist contender.

I am using 12.5 IMR 4227 with tula Small Rifle Primers (the tula seam to be hotter than CCI SRP) for the little bator and getting 1" groups at 50 yards, on paper about 2000 fps have not chrony anything yet i am still playing with it. Using heavy barrel rossi break action.

    It's been awhile since I've had the rifle, but I believe I was shooting WC852. 2650 fps, 1 5/8" at 100 yards.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
