    Re-lubing a whole bunch of 22LRs

Story is I received a few thousand 22 Long Rifles from a gentleman a few years back. He thought they were too "greasy" so he wiped off the lube on every single one. He then told me how the would heavily lead his barrel and keyhole a lot. He even mentioned that some of the recovered bullets were incomplete. He was saying that they leaded so much in his barrel they become deformed. So it sat around till he offered them to me for free, along with a collection of other stuff.

So I spoke to lar45 and bought a bottle of his white label. It's been a few years and I don't remember what was suggested.

Anyone wanna suggested the ratio of the White Label to mineral spirits? They are still in their trays of fifty. I plan to take a length of 2x4 run 2 lengths of wire and just suspend the tray upside down to let the lube dry and drip down the nose of the bullet.

    White Label ?
are you refering to Xlox ?
He has a lot of products under his "White Label lubes" brand.

I'd consider trying Ben's liquid lube recipe for your application.

Xlox, Lee liquid alox, 45/45/10, Ben's tumble lube would all work. I'd probably go with Ben's because it dries so hard and would not pick up the usual debris that .22 rf seems to collect. Several years ago I was given several hundred rounds of old .22 match ammunition. When I opened the boxes the bullets had all oxidized and the oxide swelled the diameter of the bullets to the point they would not chamber. I spent several evenings wiping the bullets with Lee liquid alox on a blue mechanics paper towels to remove the white powdery oxide and lube the bullets. It worked great, making the ammunition usable, but sticky. That's where Ben's formula comes in,it dries hard.

It is the X-lox and I'm already sitting on a bottle of it.

Hmmm....that is a good point made with the hardness of Ben's lube.

Then you are set, I think dipping might be over kill, as they used to say " a little dab will do ya". Good luck with this, it'll be worth the effort to get the ammunition shootable. Getting a can of the no buff floor wax would be easy and the making of Ben's couldn't be simpler.

I only read a couple of pages of Ben's thread. So I would still dip the tray of 50 at once. I'm thinking from the tip of bullet down to the first groove should do it and let it drip dry?

Just put a handful in a little tub, spray with a little Pam, tumble and shoot em.

I tried this with some old dry ammo before. I dipped into thinned out, heated up lube. I put too thick a coat on and they wouldn't chamber.

Stand them up on wax paper and spray with Hornady One shot case lube.

Thin out some Lee Liquid bullet lube and apply with a swirl of an artist's brush. Take no extra time to be careful of complete coverage as the average will serve your purpose.
