First attempt at powder coating

After seeing the good results you folks are getting with powder coating I decided to give it a try. I ordered some Super Durable Wet Black and John Deere Green from All Powder Paint, living in Idaho, John Deere Green was an obvious choice. I used the dry tumble method with air soft BB's. It must be the very dry climate here because after tumbling for a minute the bullets had a really thick coat.
I have to admit, I'm really impressed with how simple the process is and how well it works.
Anyway, I'm so excited I had to share the good news. Tomorrow I'll see how they shoot.

I went shooting this morning and despite hurricane force winds everything shot good. I took a Ruger M77 .350 Rem Mag loaded with Lyman 358318 coated with John Deere Green and LBT 190 gr LFN coated with Wet Black, both bullets were gas checked and loaded to around 1900 fps. The coated 358318's were more accurate than conventional lubed, the coated LBT 190 LFN shot the same, and there was zero fouling.
Next up was a Ruger Bisley .45 Colt loaded with Lee 45 230 gr truncated cone coated with Wet Black. I didn't shoot this load at paper to check accuracy but at 50 yds it tore up the plastic bottles and produced no fouling.
So far I'm really impressed with powder coating, although I'm not going to burn my Lube-a-Matic anytime soon. I'm headed to the shop to cast some bullets with a couple molds that drop slightly undersize, with the added thickness of the coating I should be able to use them.

That is a wonderful feature of PC.
I also have a couple that struggle to drop them large enough to use, and now that I can easily add .002" to the diameter, they fit perfectly.

Well they are ok I guess you need to do more and mix up the colors some to really get good at it. (disclaimer) that first part was humor for those that missed it.

It ain't john Deere green without yellow for contrast! Those look good, congrats to another convert.

I could dip the bullet nose in yellow but most of the tractors around here are green and rust in color.

I was going to spray the boolits with Smoke's Traffic Yellow.
Then put them nose down in some old empty cases, and respray the bases and part of the shank with John Deere Green.
I am not into Tractors, but Oregon is one of my favorite college teams, Go Ducks
