Well one to avoid is the practicle machinist .
Mention your little 9x20 and you will likely last about as long as i did ... less then 24 hours

That look on your face, when you shift into 6th gear, but it's not there.
Ive had good luck on practical machinist, little slow on replies. Most are pretty tight lipped. 13x42 south bend here.

also was hoping to get some references where you guys hang out.
Also check the local colledges and trade schools for night school classes in machine trades. Hands on learning on thier machines. Alot of knowledge available through them.
