    Noe 311299

This NOE mold is still a little new to me.
This one is a 2 cav. .30 cal. aluminum mold that throws a plain base as well as a g/c bullet. What it will do and won't do is still uncertain to me ?

Today, I decided to cast some of the plain base bullets. The bullets are .3015" on the nose, and the bands size out to a nice round .311".

Sized, lubed with Ben's Red and rolled in a mixture of 1/2 Lee Liq. alox and 1/2 45-45-10 , these weigh a shade over 200 grs.

I'll be shooting these in my many 30-06 and 308 Win. rifles.

    Let the games begin...................

Howdy Ben, I have the same NOE mold and it is one of my favorites. Best groups (1 moa) right at 1600 fps in a .308 with a 1-10 twist barrel. Sure wish I had a 1-12 barrel to shoot it in. I think you're gonna like it!!!

Went to order a 5x GC 311299 or 314299 yesterday, and both were out of stock. Guess I'll have to check daily to see when either is available again. Between the two molds that covers about 15 of my milsurps that need feeding.

I talked with AL Nelson yesterday on the phone. He said that they sold, during the 20% off sale, an awful lot of NOE bullet molds.

Most likely his inventory is down a bit right now. It won't take him long to get it back where it should be, continue checking his web site often. You won't regret the wait. NOE makes great molds.

    Ben:

I think you will like both mould and boolits it casts. I have the 315299 for my Lee Enfields and it shouts very well for me. Mine is 4 cavity GC but I wish it was PB.

    Enjoy!

I have debated taking the GC shank out but I think I would rather pick up another mould in PB if available then I have choices.

Al's guys do nice work and Al makes sure the moulds are available in sizes to fit old milsurps which is what I like.

    Ben,

Beauty boolits. A question for you my good man.

    You stated:

"Sized, lubed with Ben's Red and rolled in Lee Liq. alox , these weigh a shade over 200 grs."

Why do you roll them in Lee Liq. alox? Is that to stop leading from the bullet nose on the lands?

    Thanks,

    Dave

Al is one of the most accommodating fellows that you'd ever hope to meet.

The TL you used, is that straight LLA or did you cut it with MS, or the 45/45/10 TL ? The reason I ask is while not sure where Cleveland Ala. is you should be subject to the same 85%+ humidity I am on the coast and after 4 days of TL some 311299's in 40/40/20 I'm still waiting for them to totally dry ??

I do the same thing on long nosed bullets with a version of 45/45/10 after seeing some of Ben's past bullet photo spreads. It dries in Texas heat and humidity by the next day at the latest. I like how NOE offers the gc/pb combo.

That looks like it would make a nice .300 BLK bullet too.

My mixture is about 1/2 45-45-10 ( bought from LARS ) and 1/2 LLA.

Mine is fairly hard in 24 hrs.

Yes, the humidity here is rough.

Nice looking boolits. I love their option of a pb and gc in the same mould. It's gonna be interesting to see how they shoot for you.

You post up some really nice pictures. Really useful. I also TL boolits even if they have been lubed with the 45/45/10. I just got the TL 311 165 grain Ranch Dog mold from NOE and it sure is nice. Love that boolit. Thanks for the great threads/photos.
