    Gas Checks and Hi-Tek

Casting 2000 .30 cal Lee 180GC RN rifle bullets. Has anyone done any bullet that uses gas checks and coated them with Hi-Tek?

I know that the Lee Sizer is a bear to use without lube (when applying GC's) ... tried it once, and that was 3 times too many!

I seat my GC's with the N.O.E Seater and then lube and then size. Still attempting to ascertain how to do this with Hi-Tek.

I have done 225 62 gr from Mihec mold. Red Copper one coat then seat the gas check (made on Freecheck) then 2 coat and size. I am using 2-extreme catalyist which gives a slick surface- No problems sizing in lyman 45 sized to 224.

If you do have problems with them being sticky you can always use anything from case lube to dishsoap to cut the friction a bit and ease sizing. Just make to sure clean and dry them afterwards.

Thin first coat, add GC, thicker 2nd. Make sure the coating is really dry before baking, like overnite! I size down 0.002-3 and find a hard one every once in a while. Just use the standard cat. Usually oversized cause I didn't squeeze the handles enough. Still not enough effort that the Lee press can't handle. I cull the really hard ones to inspect - usually some base problem and not worth shooting.
    Whatever!
