    Would this be possible

I am a huge fan of the 45acp cartridge and have a mauser in 45 as well as a few pistols. Would it be possible to take a 410 pump shotgun and convert it to be able to shoot 45acp. If so is there a 410 that feeds from a box magazine. Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

They did. Years ago I had a Stevens bolt-action (I think it was Stevens) that fed from a fixed box magazine.

FWIW, I have an 1894 Marlin Cowboy, which was converted to .45 ACP by John Taylor, who is a regular on this forum. The rifle weighs 6 lbs., 12 ozs., and holds 12 rounds in the magazine, plus one up the spout, with 22-1/2" barrel. It shoots 1-1/2" groups at 25 yards, and in proportion at 100 yards, with iron sights. It feeds anything I feed it. Cast 230-grain bullets with 5 grains of Bullseye get 1050 fps. USGI hardball does about 950. I've had the rifle since 2007 and it is my favorite "blooper-plinker".

Looks like this might be a better option.

Izmash/Saiga "AK" is available in a semi auto .410 gauge fed from either a box, or drum magazine. I wanted to covert one to shoot .45LC

It's big brother is chambered in 12ga, also fed from a box or drum magazine.

I remember reading about somebody taking an ishapore .308 SMLE Mk III, shortening the bolt (rear lug is why this works), fitting a .45 barrel (extending breech portion of barrel back mate with shortened bolt), and adapting to use 1911 magazines. The .308 was used over the .303 because it's bolt face and extractor matched the .45 ACP case better. Anyway, there's the idea, devil's in the details.

I would think the easiest pump conversion would be to convert a Taurus Thunderbolt 45 colt into 45 acp.

I have a bolt action box mag .410 that is older than I am. Enough choices for a 45 carbine that I wouldn't ever try to convert it though.

Well over at weapons guild I was reminded of a rifle I own in a pu pmaction that could be fairly easily converted to 45acp(as easy as a conversion like this could be) in that of a remington 760 gamemaster. So now I am in search of an old beatup missused under appreciated cheaply priced 760.

Interesting choice - right bolt face in 308 or '06 type calibers but how do they recommend the magazine be handled?

I havent gotten that far but i was thinking something along the line of an adapter shped exactly like the original box magazine but with a 1911 mag well and mag release built into it. This build is still awhile off but if the right rifle comes along for the right price I may get it and start working on it.

That's doable but does take some work...

That kind of what I was planning. I already have one rhinelander arms mauser and I am about to start another one and once that one is done I may sell/trade the first one as i didnt build it but I got it in a trade. This one I am building now is going to be pretty nice going all out on it.

That is correct, I have one passed down from my Mother at home. Hunted crows with it as a boy. My Stevens has a tubular mag. Decent shotgun for what it's intended to do.

To address the OPs question, I dont' se why not. I have seen some conversions to .45LC, which I think is much more straighforward. There is at least one You Tube poster who shows he and his son firing one they made. The only trick in that conversion is finding where the BBL starts to choke down and cutting it off ahead of that point so the bullet/boolit doesn't get too squished on firing. A 45ACP conversion might need some bolt face work, but it sounds do-able to me. And as far as swaging the projectile down, another couple of guys on You Tube, one a member here, fired every .45 variant they could chamber through what I think was a modern Savage .410 bolt action. It fired everything successfully, with no immediate signs if trouble, up to .454, they didn't try .444
