Old Keith (60's) six shooter manual.

    Hi guys,

I recently ran into an old Kieth 6 shooter manual at an antique store. Does anyone know the approximate value of this book? It was in decent shape and looked interesting. Wasn't sure if the price they wanted was reasonable or not ($35).

Does anyone know anything about this manual?

    Thanks,

    Brandon

If you're talking about a big hardcover book , "Sixguns", it is worth it to me. Very dated by today's standards but for wheelgun folks it is just a joy to read. The first edition came out before S&W and Elmer developed the 44 magnum. The 2nd edition has an appendix detailing the M-29. If the book is a 2nd edition or later, and in good condition, it may be worth it. I don't know what they are going for on ebay or at Abebooks.

Checked Amazon and hardcover copies of 'Sixguns by Keith' appear to be going for somewhere between $45 and $60 online...the variance depending upon condition, I suppose...and that's for both the 1955 and 1961 editions. Btw...my copy is the later edition (with original jacket), purchased new in around 1970, and I certainly wouldn't part with it for $35. Nicely fills the space between my copy of 'Shotguns by Keith' and Jack O'Connor's 'The Rifle Book'.

A smaller, earlier effort was "Sixgun Cartridges and Loads," which was written by Keith for the Samworth book line. An original would probably go for three times the $35 asked on a rare book site, but it has been reprinted by the Gun Room Press. A reprint would probably go for the antique store price, or a little less, if it could be found.

I'll roll out there next week and pick it up. If I decide it is not something I will use, perhaps I can work out a trade for someone.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Got a paperback. One of my friends must have retained my old hard copy. Worth it, IMO./beagle

Whenever I find an interesting book and I'm not sure of it's value to me, or it's monetary worth, I use a little thing called "Google" and in a few seconds, I learn all I need to know.

LOL Wilco. When I found it I didn't have my phone to take a picture or do a google search. I searched for it when I got home, but have been unable to find the same one I saw. I will go back this coming week and check it out.
