when I started buying stuff in 2001, hazmat was $2 to put a sticker on.
Now its $27.50 for the same sticker.
    Plus $10 handling charge
    Plus shipping.

The local shops have a lot of primers & powder you dont have to pay all the extras for

The extra fees aren't bad if spread over 20 K primers or so. On 5 K it easily adds 5 bucks per K.

$188.50 per 5 thousand shipped and handled and hazmat fee. That is 37.70 per 1000. $3.77 per 100. At the local gun shop they are charging 3.99 per 100 and they will only let me buy 1 box of a 100. Works out to be a better deal from Midway.

Haven't ordered primers or powder online yet...do you have to be home to sign for the shipment as a general rule?

I went to the local gun show this weekend. Our number one guy for powder & primers was well stocked. Win, Rem, or CCI rifle or pistol were $28 per K. Didn't see many people buying them. Did not see any 22 rimfire anyplace at any price. Handgun sales were brisk with folks standing in in to fill out the paperwork. Admission was 6 bucks with coupon from the paper and never any parking charges. I bought a Dillon case gage for the 45ACP nothing else.

Yes, someone does need to be there to sign for the package. If you know you won't be home for the delivery, both UPS and Fedex will hold the package at the local office and you can go in to sign for it and pick it up.

From Powder Valley's web page " FedEx requires a signature on all hazardous material packages. UPS may require a signature when delivering your package. " my last 2 orders came UPS and didn't require signature.

I've noticed that midway is getting cci #400 small rifle primers a lot more also. I don't like paying the hazmat fee but I'm getting more than 200 at a time
