    Gray Wolf

If you didn't know, Sams wife Julie is in the hospital from a stroke.
    http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...Prayer-request
These two barely get by monetarily and something like this is not in their budget. Sam does not have money to run to the hospital.
I sent a couple bucks to him. Least I could do for one of our veterans.
Anybody else care to throw in a couple bucks?

Mroliver If you have the info and it would make him or you feel any better, I would be glad to relay it through you, and try to get it done now. Just a thought.

OK, I don't have Sams blessing on this yet. If you want, my PP is heffy(at)bright.net
    I can forward.
If you are more comfortable sending to his PP, pm me.

Hopefully Sam won't get mad at me.

    If he does.......
Like I told another, I was married 22 years. I have 7 sisters and two daughters. I am accustomed to having somebody mad at me.

I think Sam would appreciate the help. And if he doesn't he can be mad at several of us. Thanks for letting us know.

I do not know Sam other than reading his occasional posts. I do realize that he has a very tight budget and his wife's illness will strain his finances and energy going forward even more. As he posts surprise over the price of a store bought loaf of bread I am going to suggest that if anyone knows him to ask if he has determined if he qualifies for government assistance for food purchases. Something like 15% of the United States population obtains this benefit with a monthly average of about $270 in benefits. Can anyone here help determine if Sam is eligible and help him apply?

The program is there to help people in need and clearly Sam is in need. If anyone knows the situation and an make a few calls to help figure out what the qualifications are for assistance and can make a few calls on his behalf it would reduce some of the pain he is experiencing.

It was reported that Sam and Julie live in a 12 X 24 log cabin (see his avitar) that they rent.

It is on top of a mountain 18 miles away from the nearest groceries or laundromat.

Since I will not use pay pal I hope someone will tell me where to send some help.

As soon as Sam is on board with this (I'm sure he will be) I'm in. Just the transportation bill will be beyond them.

OK, winter is coming in north central Maine and when Julie gets home, she and Sam are going to have to stock up on some food and medicine and supplies to help ensure her continued health.

Coming home is the beginning of a medical ordeal rather than the end.

For those uncomfortable with using Paypal for whatever reasons and given Sam and Julie's location and situation, I'm going to propose the following solution:

Prepaid gift cards from Visa and Mastercard.

I would NOT recommend those "green dot" reloadable cards but instead the basic Visa or MC cards in which you can either set the amount to load on them or the ones that come in predetermined amounts ($25, $50, $100, etc).

Sam can use these at the gas pump, grocery stores, drug stores (prescriptions, etc) and restaurants. And, these can be mailed directly to Sam & Julie.

Yes, there is normally an activation fee and it's around $5. But anyone who put on our uniform and went overseas to get shot at is damned well worth the five bucks it might cost to help ensure their comfort throughout the winter.

We pulled together some years ago to help Sam & Julie through another exceedingly challenging situation. In doing so, it defined the core membership of this family and not just who we were as individuals, but what we are as a family.

We can do this again, folks.

    I'm in.
