Where to find 30-40 Krag brass?

Has anyone found a source for 30-40 Krag brass? My father has been trying to buy unfired 30-40 Krag but it appears to be rather hard to find! I'm hoping to buy him some brass as a late Christmas present.

And I guess I should ask for pointers on where to go to find dies and bullets as well...

Keep asking around. I ran into the same trouble and bought some here from someone awhile back. At the big Louisville show I was only able to find quantities of 20 at each show but I have a good working amount of about 150 right now. One of the big distributors had some awhile ago. If you really cant find any, I have 2 older boxes of factory ammo (one Remington and one Winchester) for $20 each plus UPS shipping. The 30-40 is a great cast bullet shooting gun and I am currently loading the Lyman 190 grain bullet sized to .311 with great success.

Dies and "J" bullets should be no problem to locate. My Krag carbine seems to favor Speer 165 gr. SP bullets.Robert

If one has no other choice they can be made by running 303 Brit. through your loading dies. However they are just a little shorter in the neck then the 30/40 krag brass.

As of about 5 minutes ago, Graf's had both W-W and R-P brass in stock...with W-W on 'special' at $19.95 for a bag of 50.

I, too, have formed cases from .303 Brit when I couldn't find any .30-40 and, then, formed them back to .303 when I located a source for real Krag brass.

Great info, people, thanks! I'm going to pick up a couple of bags of brass.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are "J" bullets?

Interestingly enough, I stumbled on a used set of 30-40 Krag dies on another forum yesterday and snapped them up quickly. I thought they'd be harder to find than they were. Or perhaps I just got really lucky.
