This is for my Brothers wife Betsy , and my dear younger brother Robert.
Yes I have hesitated to ask this, MY bad I guess, but this is so painful for me
I have trouble just typing it. So bear with me and my story please.
I had mentioned way back in Sept. that my brother and his wife were coming to visit Julie and I On Sept 24 this year. They were to stay for 3 days and my friend Brad let
them stay in his camp very close to mine. While they were here everything was fine and we had a great time.Last time I introduced Betsy to shooting and she had an exquisite time shooting pistol and 22 LR she loved it. Bob and I always go to shoot
every time he visits ( once a year from Ct. )
Just before they left Betsy was not up to herself, head ache, dizzy, and the such.
They left here and went to the Cape for a couple of days and both got food poisoning
from a restaurant. They were treated and got better. But after getting home Betsy got worse. Eyes were crossing, loss of balance, well she was admitted to
Yale new haven hospital with an Unknown Illness, she responded and relapsed and was in a coma for October and Nov. The diagnosis was Listeria ( food born illness ) It attacked here spine and Brain stem. She has been through absolute heck and my Brother is trying his best to be with here every single day for hours on end.
He is a good Christine man and so is Betsy but some days are very, difficult for him.
Men I am in pain for him and have been, he's mu little Brother and I love him so much. Betsy has a tube in her throat for breathing, a feeding tube in her stomach
And more thing for bodily functions. I talk to my bother every other day and I am so sad for him and her. She is still hammered with the brain stem infection and the Doctors say it will take a long time before they know just how much she will recover.
She is out of the coma now, but can't speak and has little movement of here body.
They moved her a few days ago to Gaylord hospital to try an institute some rehab.
She responds some days and other days not so good, My Brother loves here so much.
This is his last E-mail to me from him.
I thank God for the beauty of my sister, my spouse. Please pray that she will get past the fever and the trembling and that God would return her voice and speech to us all. Her fever and stomach bug is keeping her from more intensive therapy, and I can’t always understand what she’s trying to say. This is something that has hurt me the most: when she tries to talk to me and I have to say I can’t understand you. Then she repeats it with exaggerated facial expressions and, of course, I still can’t understand. This hurts so much. I haven’t heard her voice since Thursday, October 11-- ten weeks ago. She remains calm, shows very little frustration, and sometimes smiles. I have to turn my face away so she doesn’t see me cry.
"As the Scriptures say, 'For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.' This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself..." (Eph 5:32-33).
Thank you for your faithful friendship, prayers, and brotherly and sisterly kindness.
There was a thread a while ago about what we all wanted for X-mas.
I said few things and then said Ya know men I don't really need a new shirt.
Lord what I would like is for Betsy to say to my Brother
I love you Bob. Merry Christmas.
I can't type anymore men. Can you please say prayers for Betsy and her full recovery and for strength to be shown my brother Robert.
I'm sorry my post was so long.
