I just ordered 2 cases of 1lb jugs of 2230 from Midway for $9.99 each. Deal is good untill April 30, 2007
That would equal out to 8lb. jugs at $79.92.
With the price of everything else going sky high these days I thought it is a great deal!

............That IS a good price and no doubt about it. Add in the $30 haxmat/shipping and it's still a great price. Locally cannister powders are sunning from $18 to $22/lb.

I load all of my own .223 (a ton) I can also use this powder for 30WCF, 7.62x39, and supersonic loads of 300 whisper. I have also had some acceptable results using this in 8mm Mauser.
I always wonder if AA2230 and BLC-2 are the same powders.

For practical purposes, they are. Assume different lot speeds as always. h335, blc2, 844, 846, 223 are close enough plus or minus 15 percent. ... felix

With some of the surplus powder dealer's (Pat's Reloading) selling the WC846 for a hundred bucks for an 8 lb jug, that's a great deal. I'd rather pay that price for new powder.

I bought 24 pounds of it. The 2000 AA manual says 41 grs with a l80 lead bullet. They recommend starting loads at 10% less. I loaded up a few rounds with 311413 and 37 grains in '06. Bullet was cast from foundry type. Luckily, I put up a 3'x3' cardboard backer behind the target. 8 rounds fired; 6 hit the 3'x3' backer, closest ones 32" apart. 37 grains wouldn't consistently cycle the m1 action. Went down to 30 grs. and switched to my 03A3. 10 rds, 6 in the 12" target. Dropped down to 25 grs with bullets from WW's, 2'' group.
