Hi My name is Frank and I have a Problem

I just got the 4 cavity H&G copy #68HP. from MiHec , great looking mold . I put the hp pins in it and put it in the cabint where I keep my molds that aren`t H&G (I had a cabnit maker bulid a nice cabnit just for my H&G molds, lets just say a few more than 50. Well I thought I had two or three MiHec molds , I counted them and I have 13, 4cavity and 5, 2 cavity molds. and I`am in on a few more group buys !! Well all this got me to thinking ? I have more than the $100.00 invested in bullet molds!! (that`s what I told my wife) when will this stop ?, how many do I need? I know every body here has a bunch , well could you all count your molds and post the score?? I sure hope my grandson gets into casting boolets. I`ll post some pictures when I get a new camera, but I been spending the extra money on molds. its a sickness!!

I'm somewhat on a binge right now. I've only owned 2 molds: I then inherited one, bought one, traded for one, bought another, and just ordered 2 more. I'm pretty sure when all said and done, I will have 8. That only leaves one caliber that I own that I won't cast for.

Buy a gun, buy the mold, buy the assorted stuff is the usual order
I almost bought a mold before I bought the gun but figured I better get chamber dimensions first.

I buy holsters that are too big or too small for the pistol I just bought. I tell my wife, I got this holster below discount prices and no pistol to fit in it....and it's off a shopping i go.

I buy extra scope rings for rifles......
    Always an excuse...but it works!!

I just went down an counted them & I received #79 today. I'm in enough buys to put the count over 100 next year. It all started back in the early 90s when Gander Mountain sold off their mail order business to Cabelas and started to scale back. The Gander store in Brookfield, WI had a whole table full of Lyman molds the were getting rid of for $15 ea. I bought all I could carry, most for guns I didn't even own yet. The mold I got today is a Hoch nose pour
360285 for $45. I posted a thread (Hoch 360285) and included some pics. Yeah, I got it bad.

I spent over $1500 on molds in the past two years.

Gotta make a LOT of boolits!

But... I don't have any problems or afflictions....

    molds

just counted, have 50. i'm on 5 group buys right now and counting. that will make 55 and there are a few more i'd like to get. half of these are custom molds the rest are lyman, rcbs, lee. is there a cure for this addiction? perhaps we need to form something like A A and start going to meetings. just a thought!

I feel bad, I only have 6 and have been waiting for #7 from Miha for over a year now. I also dropped out of one buy when the honco did a bit of a switch. I will only buy one at a time, to try and keep the costs down a bit... Of course when this one I'm waiting on comes through, theres a 4 hole crammer thats being talked about I would like to get.... and one for my .300 ... and one for my 7.7... oh my. call it '6 & 1/2' and counting...

Lets see, I have 12 lee molds, 9 lyman, 2 rapine, 1 nei, 12 noe, 6 miha and 1 brp. Like everyone else I am in a bunch of group buys. As if the groups buy section wasn't costing me enough money I went and poked my nose into the swaging section. I think I need a second job!

    I think that is all.

Oh yeah,... I forgot about the swaging. I'm only set up to swage 7mm and .22. Now THAT can get expensive when you start buying dies for that.

WHEW! Thanks guys. I thought I had a problem, but I only have 6 of Miha's and 3 of Swede's, and some Lee's to go with them, but who's counting? I'm in on at least 3 GBs that I can name though, one of which will be the second mold of the same design (another 5 cavity 311247 from Swede).

Now that I think about it, I keep coming up with different counts that keep getting bigger. They must multiplying like clothes hangers...

Calm Down I don't see any problem at all. To me it is normal behavior. If you need to justify it to the wife use this approach.
I bought a 6 cavity H&G mold in or around 1982. IIRC ,I paid about $80.00 for the mold and handles. Today I am sure that on E-bay the going price is at least $225.00 or about 3 times the price I paid for it.
On the contrary with my 401K the money that I have had invested has not done nearly as well. I am not the WALL SREET type but my 401K has not been that favorable to me.
Think of it as an investment.
