    Ranch Dog TLC311-165FN and 308 ME

    Scored another kill with the 308 Marlin Express and the Ranch Dog TLC311-165FN. 37 grains of BLC-2.

    Nice little 9 point on closing day.

    That is one fine deer. Nice rifle/caliber combination. I expect we will be seeing more on the 308 Marlin Express.

    The Marlin.. I have been looking at the barrel.. Is that a shortened barrel ?

    I guess I'm ignorant here, but what is the .308 Marlin Express? Is that a new cartridge? I remember Winchester did something like that with the .307 I think it was called and I didn't hear about it for long.

    I am glad Deer season Is over.Now I have a full crew again.Deer season starts here Oct 15 and runs all they way through till Jan31.I have several Deer Hunters who work for me and it is tough to get them to work every day through the season.Turkey spring Gobbler season start soon but I only have 1 employee who hunts Turkey.I can complain much though My deep freeze is full of Meat and I haven't hunted in years.Now maybe I can taker a little time off to get after them Red Fish.Mike

    The 308 Marlin Express is a relatively new cartridge. I think it has been around for 4 or 5 years. Has a little more umph than the 30-30 and approaching the 307 win, IIR.

    No, this fella was taken at my father and uncle's place in Coosa County, AL. Up close to Lake Martin.

    We think it is the same deer we captured on camera a few years ago. My uncle called him the Terminator. He was a bit past his prime by the time I found him. But still nice.
