    Internet Strike on Wednesday

    Internet Strike on Wednesday

In protest of the internet censorship threat, hundreds of websites like google, facebook, gmail, and tumblr are going to do a blackout. I'm not sure how long it will last, possibly until the bill goes before the senate on the 24th

Scroll down the list on the linked page to see if the sites you use are affected.

MODS, I encourage you to join in this fight, if you have not already.

I know this isnt the general section, but I wanted people to see it. cast boolits seems to be where most people congregate here.

I checked the link......that's quite a list. By blackout, do they actually mean SHUTTING DOWN THE INTERNET voluntarily by refusing access to their sites? Wonder what all the advertisers think about that?

    Gonna be interesting for sure.

That's a weird list of sites. I only scrolled through the top third and I saw multiple listings of Google, Twitter, and YouTube.
I counted six instances of Google.

I must of missed something. But, that's not a big surprise if it has to do with computers. Anyone have a cliffsnotes version?

SOPA. Stop Online Piracy Act. Another push from the recording/movie industry lobby by our lawmakers.

There really isn't anything anyone can do to stop piracy... Remember when Napster was shut down? Five new file sharing programs popped up in it's place! Every time the music industry comes up with a new way to combat piracy, people come up with a new way to circumvent it. They're fighting a never ending battle that they'll never win.

It wasnt piracy when er traded our cassettes and had dual cassette players. It was free advertising, and it worked. When CDs came out, we couldnt record anymore, so the real pirates, the lawyers, decided to get thier fingers in the dough. Now, its a crime.

    >>>do they actually mean SHUTTING DOWN THE INTERNET <<<

My understanding is that the sites replace their normal homepage with one that is black. The sites are still up.

I just did a quick browse through the list. Is there any way we can request some of them just stay gone? Lots of whacked out leftist groups.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

It's sorta like "If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it...."

My answer has always been "who cares?"
