For those of you using an X-die in .223 Rem.

If you're shooting .223 Remington in an AR15 with a 5.56MM chamber and are using an X-die, are you using a small base or standard RCBS X-die?

My chamber seems to definately be on the tight side and I'd been considering the X-die anyways, so was looking at the small base. I'm concerned about the number of reloadings possible with the small base die vs. smooth chambering. I know the standard and small base have an area of manufacturing where they overlap, but I've never needed a small base die in a semi automatic before.

Can anyone coment on their results?

    Thanks,

    Dave

I use a standard X die for the AR 15 Blaster rifle I built up , a parts gun , not even sure who made the barrel

    Never had a problem .
But my chamber is not mininum

My Rock River Varmit upper will take ammo loaded with the standard X die also ( relatively tight chamber )
But I mormaly only neck size for it , every 3 reload I bump the shoulder

A freind has a older Bushmaster varmit upper , that has a TIGHT chamber .
He has to use a small base die to get it to work 100%

Sorry , that my post is as clear as mud

I have used small base in 308 and 223. Eliminated my problems with ejection

Are you sure that RCBS makes a Small Base X die?

I've got four AR's and I use the standard X die on all of them. One of the rifles has a tight .223 chamber instead of 5.56 and it chambers fine. I like my X die.

The standard RCBS X die set works ok in my pre-ban Colt HBAR
Can our government survive the next 4 years?
