    Jacket trimming

I want to discuss 224" jackets. There is a ton of 22 Magnum on the range. I don't mind buying a jacket maker for it but trimming is a slow tedious task. I am trying to devise a way to trim RF brass reliably and accurately. The only thing I came up with was a jig to hold the case before it's gone through the derimming process. Works but slow.

Anyone else thinking of trimming 22 Magnums for heavier bullets?

Yes,after derimming, I am using a 1/4'' 5C collet with a stop in my lathe and parting them off.

I would use a pinch die if I had to cut off a bunch of jackets

    Thumbs up

Ammosmith, here's a link to a thread about using a "fairly accurate" chop saw to trim jackets... I *think* the saw is available from Harbor Freight, but the link and the thread will tell you for sure...

Perhaps cut the jackets a bit long, and then pinch trim them down to size...?

That pinch trim die is outstanding. Ingenuity at its finest : )
