It was a GOOD day at the range, today...

I went to the range today to particularly try out my new Ruger SS 5½" Bisley .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertible. I reported on that in another thread.

However, I just HAD to share with my friends, on here, that I shot my personal best with my 625-6 with 5" barrel and Simmons Red Dot sight. This was shot standing at 25 yards (with witnesses):

That is the "NRA Slow Fire Target" and it scores 97x100 with 6 "X's". The load was a 200 gr SWC MiHec H&G #68 clone ahead of 4.5 grs of P5066 (alas, it is now gone). The alloy is WW's + @% tin (pretty much my standard) and primers are Federal 150 LP.

Dale, what distance was that? I assume 25 yds. I have the goal of consistent 2" at 25 yds". I'd love to produce that target at 25!

That was shot standing at 25 yards (at our certified range at the Butler County Sportsmen Rifle & Pistol Club). I try to get there at least a couple of times a week.

That revolver/load combination with the MiHec #68 SWC will shoot WELL under an inch at 25 yards (from a Ransom Rest) upon demand.

Thanks for the kind words, fellers.

Wish I had been there. Couple times a week----why are you cutting back so much?

Dale, it always comes back to those 625's, doesn't it? With targets like that, it's easy to see why! Good job!

    Thanks, good people!

Carpetman, you WERE here but you went home. You'll definitely have to plan on stopping by again on your next trip to see your family (be sure and bring your son-in-law, too).

Nice shooting Uncle Dale! Personally, I prefer to spread my boolits out over 7-8", makes the holes easier to count......

I'll have to keep THAT rejoinder ready at hand for any further Burrito Shoots.

    NICE shooting, Dale!
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.

    Aw shucks, fellers!

Thanks for the kind words. If you good people get a chance to pick up a 625, you might want to JUMP on it. They sure do ease the path to a good score.

Using the MiHec #68 bullets in the 625 is a DANDY combination. They drop from that six cavity mould like "shellin' corn"... Then, after a trip through the Star sizer/luber and a pass through the Dillon 550B you have lOTS to practice with. All of this makes it possible to SHOOT a ton without PAYING a ton.
