What's the deal with this company and why does Ruger use them exclusively?
A No. 1 in 275 Rigby is on my bucket list of firearms.

Likely because without Lipseys Ruger would have to sell the #1 to numerous distributors, and it's just easier to deal with this one who has historically ordered and sold more Rugers than anyone else. If it wasn't for Lipseys the Ruger #1 would have been discontinued long ago. They take comments and requests from Ruger fans and eventually if enough demand is there they make an order in bulk to Ruger to purchase whatever minimum Ruger wants to run. Others don't have the buying power to agree to purchase the total required by Ruger.
Lipseys will make an order big enough to justify the special tooling for the really neat stuff, then sell it thru them exclusively. Several distributors do this. Order several thoousand with special calibers or features and then sell them. Sort of a semi custom model at less cost
For me it's been the Ruger #1 in .44Mag; a relatively recent run. :-/
What's the price on that .275?
I was scouting around looking at prices on the 9.3x74R due to thinking about selling mine.
Saw one listed at a major sporting goods outlet for $2300. Couldn't believe my eyes.
Lipseys has realized the hidden market for unique calibers and configurations of pistols and rifles. They have chosen Ruger as their manufacturer. There have been others that utilized this strategy such as Ron Shirk who used S&W to produce limited edition pistols that still command high prices.
My Ruger #1 in 7mm Mauser is identical to the 275 Rigby in virtually every way, with the exception of the stamp on the barrel. Yet it is worlds apart in price.
If you are going to make a hole in something. MAKE IT A BIG ONE!
Thank you for the replies gentlemen.
I didn't know that about their business arrangement.
Also don't know what the Rigby 275 is going for?
I'd imagine 2,300 to 2,500 dollars.
We really need a like button.

Lipsey’s… I love ‘em. They commission a lot of firearms runs that I wouldn’t have if offered free of charge, but I think I recognize the market niche they are catering to. So long as it stimulates interest in shooting sports, hey - I’m all for it.
Then, from time to time, every once in a while, at about the right pace so as to not bankrupt me, there it is something I just have to have.
I agree.. Lipsey's has been our friend for many years !
Have several and the little extra they charge opens the door to calibers we only dreamed about 40 years ago.
Did Lipsey's ever do a run of #1's in a caliber .50 anything ?

Kinda fitting with this thread, Lipsey's owner is Richard Lipsey. Years ago he owned the biggest sporting goods store in Baton Rouge, LA. He also owned a wholesale company next door called S & S Wholesale. I worked there for four years and saw tons of guns and ammo pass through the warehouse. He dealt heavily in special edition and commemorative guns back then also.
It’s a real shame that Lipesy’s or a company like them doesn’t bring back the Ruger #3. When it was in production it was a neat little carbine to actually carry and use, but it’s limited market, low profit margin, and competition with the higher priced #1 made it too unattractive for the bean counters.
I guess we should celebrate the interesting guns Lipsey’s does make available.

Lipsey's is a friend of the niche market. Without them probably would never owned my Bisley Super Blackhawk in .480 Ruger.
Sure do like Lipsey's 28" .257 Weatherby in the Ruger #1.
If liars pants really did catch on fire, watching the news would be a lot more fun!
A #3 with a better butt stock like the #1 would be nice. Plain walnut, no checkering and maybe a alex henry forend would be a really neat rifle and in the bigger calibers wouldn't beat you to death. Before I replaced the stock on my #3 in 30/40 it was positively unpleasant to shoot.
