Works OK with Accurate 3100 which is about the same thing. Uses a lot of powder for not much velocity but it shoots fine.
I have been using some IMR 4350 in cast 308 loads but with a 311-041 knock off .
I haven’t but I will use 4831 also . But I have a bit of powder ash in the barrel.
I've had great luck with 4831 and heavier .30 cal. bullets, especially out of longer barrels.
However; I keep coming back to Win748 for the 150-ish jacketed stuff in .308.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

EVERYONE!
Back to your oars. The Captain wants to waterski.
I started playing with 4831 with cast in the 7.62X54R but life got in the way.
It worked fine in what few loads I got to try.
Try 15 to 17g of 2400 for 041 clone in .308 Winchester.
It's all chicken, even the beak!
Have a pile of gas checked tumble lubed 160 gr. boolits loaded over 17 of 2400. About 1700 fps, good accuracy and a clean barrel after many rounds. Just before covid hit I got 500 primed LC cases from Everglades. I like shooting at a 50 yd. 6" gong off hand.

I found in a Hogdon flyer (1995) 150 gr bullet, H4831 or SC 50 grains. I can't get 50 grains in a win 308 case going to try SC,shot well out of a ar10. book says 2525 vol at 37200 cup. I do have some3100
thanks for the help.
I'm guessing that 4227 might work in 308, ive yet to try cast in 308 win, I might see if 311299 would chamber in my gun or maybe try 150 or 170 from lee molds. oh yeah plus I got this new 312-160tl lee mold to try. sounds like a good goal to add to the fall/ winter list. running a bit low on 2400 but have lots of 4227, 296 and lilgun. last thing I want to have to do is scrub lead out of the barrel.
I have good accuracy using 4895 and 150 gr Hornady SST, I"ve got 4 308 rifles I like to play with and for simplicity I use this load in all of them, a FAL, an AR I put together, an PTR91, and a M1A. I shoot the M1A the most but all 4 rifles function flawlessly with my load and accurate enough for me, I have no ideal of my FPS though.
