Cool Rifle Targets on the Cheap

So I have been sick and tired of wasting money on targets for at the range. I started making my own shoot and see targets but that was messy and time consuming. So here is my method.

Cut brightly colored paper in thirds lengthwise and then in half to get 6 pcs per sheet. Pink squares measure 2"x2"

Made a tool from O1 and heat treated it. It punches a 1" hole.

Then tape or glue the pink squares to the back. Great for rifle!

And don't just waste the punch outs! I glue them to another piece of paper. Makes for a fun game of who can shoot all their dots first.

I was printing targets for awhile...but printer ink is expensive! I also have used the stick on dots. They worked most of the time. Problem is I have had those occasionally pop off after being hit. Thanks for the link though! I will have to check all those out!

How about getting some blue painters tape, then tearing off a square to stick on the middle of a sheet of paper? It comes in different widths for different size "bulls-eyes"

That would work but there's one problem....the blue tape is kinda dark and it would be hard to see 22 cal holes at 200 yds. I wouldn't be able to stand the ragged edge from ripping it off the roll. It would have to be precisely cut LOL!

    Neato target idea!

I'm also a stick-on dot user, on cardboard boxes that I bring home from the grocery store (free).

Don't know if ya have done so yet, but if ya scroll down you will see how to make "reactive" targets inexpensively.

    I use them a lot.

That way ya don't have to print any , just make some up. It does not take long to whip out some reactive ones.

I use post it notes and stickers fron the dollar store. I also have a roll of orange dots i got at the range. Lol minute of a post it note is good enough for deer and minute of a sticker is just showing off. 🤣🤣

My wife and kids love shooting the heart stickers. Playing cards are fun too. Shooting the old decks gives me a reason to buy new ones. I am on a mission to blow out the middle of an ace of heats at 100s...one day.... lmao it keeps me reloading.

D.I.L. works at a print shop, gives me several huge boxes of 12X18 paper. It is waterproof and cuts a perfect hole. The manufacturers # is on the box if anyone needs it.Anyway,I have 50,100,150 yd range out the back door of shop so just use a sharpie, make a bunch of dots. They stay posted 24-7.This paper is indestructible. After it gets poked full of CB holes,we cut it into smaller 3X5 sections and finish them off with trad archery gear.....shoot till it's gone.Tough because,it keeps getting smaller and smaller, haha.

Nice. I use spent steel and alum brass I find on the ground at the range. Mostly 9mm cases. Punching paper gets old to me but we all need to do it.

I make stencils by cutting holes of the desired size in cardboard and hit the hole with cheap spray paint. Usually black or orange. I have a complete set from rows of 1/2 inch for benching my .22 rifle at 50 yards to 6 inch for 100 yard plus for my tang sited old rifles.

My eyes need all the contrast they can find, particularly with irons. I cut squares of black duct tape and rotate them 90 deg. so I aim at the bottom point. Stick these on cheap paper plates.

I buy 6 in paper plates and trace the inside of a die (7/8) ring with a sharpie in the center. That is my bullseye. I also have a bunch of old printer paper with the tear off edges that I use. I already tried to paper patch with it and when you wet it it turns to mush. So I make targets out of it.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.

For a fun, reactive target, try onions. I fished a dozen or so out of the trash behind a local grocer's. When hit by a center fire rifle, they explode into onion scented confetti.

Contrast is the name of the game for me too. Especially with iron sights. Also being able to see your hits. I have found if the bullseye is too dark you cant see hits. That's when I rarely hit the bullseye, of course lol.
