That's not old at all I bought those and I'm not old. LOL
I didn’t think so. I’m under 60 and they haven’t put vintage on my license yet. Ha ha
Don't know when they stopped using these metal 231 Winchester tins, but I bought lots of them when I was shooting a large volume of 9mm and .45 ACP handgun in competition and it was more like 40 years ago ...
I may have passed my "Best Before" date, but I haven't reached my "Expiry" date!
That sounds more like what I was thinking. This one was sitting around when I help an old timer cut down rifle brass to make .45 ACP shot loads 25 yeas ago. The family let me pick through some old items laying around. It’s a good memory of him. He would have gotten a kick out of this site. I bet he cast close to a million rounds over his years and reloaded just as much.
I have one too and it is priced at $13.50. Got it about 18 years ago.
I think I’ll keep mine so I don’t loose all my marbles
Sled, good idea. I may try that. If I hear my marbles rolling around in the can then I"ll know where to look.
81 to 85 vintage, judging by the ones I have.
I have a can of 540 like that..
I still have and will use 3 or 4 of W230 cans that was the powder 231 replaced, One is a 3 or 4 lb can. Can't remember which.
I bought a WW296 8lb like this just 20yrs ago.
I remember this style back in the early 1970's. So Winchester used it for 30yrs+
I HATE auto-correct
Happiness is a Warm GUN & more ammo to shoot in it.
My Experience and My Opinion, are just that, Mine.

I have a can of 231 with the conical top and smaller lid, still using the powder in it.

Ive got a few of the 231 a couple 540 and a 571 of the same vintage. Bought a bunch of reloading stuff from the family of a guy who passed away. I have an old can of h110 too. I'm 35 and dont remember that can really. My dad didnt load much h110 though either. The can has a price tag on it for 4.99
Your old 231 can same stuff as the new plastic bottles. I threw away a bunch when I moved. Not worth anything maybe in 50 years they will be. I'm sure the old 2400 is the same as the new. I loaded up some 357 mag for a Desert Eagle with a max charge of 2400 and it worked fine.
It ain't that old, hell, I remember when it was Winchester 230.
Then in the late 60's it got "improved" and became 231
