I was wondering if a 280-ish grain SSK style boolit at 1300-1350 fps out of a 44 mag would be a good load for deer and med. to large boar. it is going to be a plain base design, basically the #43-275d from accurate, but with a plain base, a .28 wide flat meplat with no rounded corners, thicker drive bands(.1-.115) and a .1-.115 grease groove. I will be using 20.5-21.5grs of 296, depending on where the sweet spot is. so , my main question is A, if anyone has used a similar design with success, and B whats the best alloy? I have a copper laced alloy that is too hard, I am going to water it down with pure to about 12bhn, I am shooting for about a 3-3-94 mix, with about .15%CU. does this sound about right? thanks a lot-Travis
