    Carnuba Red

Have any of you guys used White Lable's Carnuba Red on 38 special and/or 45 acp boolits going 800-850 fps? If so, does it work well at those lower velocities? I am thinking of switching to Carnuba Red for my pistol boolits.
    Thanks,

I used lots of it for just that a few years back. Worked quite well.

That's all I use in a S&W 64-5 38 special, with lead sized .358, and not a trace of leading.

I've used it but switched to White Labels Commercial Red 160 degree, so I could bulk pack the bullets loose for storage. Both perform well the commercial is slightly less tacky and stores with less lube transfer between loose bullets.

How do you rate the smoke off the Carnauba Red lube compared to other lubes?

I have been using Carnuba Red for the past couple of years in my 38's and my 45 LC. Velocity runs about 720 ft./sec. You shouldn't have any problems.

I use it on everything from 550fps 32 S&W to 3,000 fps 223 Rem boolits with no problems. Only the really fast loads smoke at all.

Interesting to read these accounts. I'm a new user of Carnauba Red, and intended it for higher-velocity work......but have applied it to some pistol boolits just for grins & jollies. Too many distractions have largely kept me off the range since I set up the new 4500 with CR, but it will happen soon.
I don't paint bullets. I like Black Rifle Coffee. Sacred cows are always fair game. California is to the United States what Syria is to Russia and North Korea is to China/South Korea/Japan--a Hermit Kingdom detached from the real world and led by delusional maniacs, an economic and social basket case sustained by "foreign" aid so as to not lose military bases.

I like CR for everything from 9mm to 45-70. I shoot a lot of it in 45acp.

I too like C-Red, however my next order is gonna be the commercial blend. I've heard its not as tacky, although I've been adding some extra bees wax to take care of that problem, using the commercial blend in solid sticks melted for use in the Star should be a little cheaper as well.

If ya gonna buy a lube CR will fill the bill & then some .

When I first found it I used it on everything speeding up boolits in handgun & rifle until I stripped lead ,but the lube still held it`s own !!

My sinuses can`t tolerate alox at all , it stops my head up as tite as a drum , CR has less smoke & does`nt bother my sinuses.

We loaded some up for a SASS shoot , but they did`nt smoke enuff for my buddy.

All I use is CR, it'll firm up given a little time after sizing and lubing. The only other lube I use is Rooster Red, but only if I'm casting and sizing handgun boolits for a couple of friends that requested it.

Since I can't get Rooster Red Zambini anymore, I've switched to CR. Seems to fit the bill for me just fine. I use it mostly higher velocity .30 cal stuff. I like softer stuff for my pistol (.38 and .45) and I'm just finishing my very last tube of Tammarack. I've ordered some of White Labels 50/50 to replace that though. You really can't beat their prices.
