I'm running low on varget and 4350 isn't in stock, but I picked up some H414 today. From what I have read H414 and W760 are the same, the NRA found 760 to be one of the best powders for 308. I will load up a few rounds and take them to the range this weekend and see how that works out. It appears to me that Varget will work for paper patching, but as someone said in another thread there realy seems to be something to this ball powder. I'll keep everyone up to date on my H414 loads, but for now I think I'll save my varget for the j-words. Thanks to everyone for all the input, hopefully I will join the ranks fo the ones that made patched boolits work.

I have found no difference in either accuracy or velocity using ball or stick powder, as long as I have 100+% load density for the velocity I want. I choose my velocity to match the alloy of the lead and the intended target. Since 90% of my targets are furry I lean towards an alloy no harder than coww, air cooled. These, pushed up to around 2500/2600fps work great. For my 300 RUM I use an alloy with a 16/17 BHN at around 3000fps.
