We've got a lot of griz and black bear activity here, too. Friend wants me to go shoot one out of his apple trees. Problem is, they only come at night, and I don't need the hassle of accidentally killing a griz.

If the finish is completely cured, you will leave no steel wool particles in the finish. I finished a lot of very expensive exhibition grade stocks with steel wool where such a blemish would be disaster. Never a problem.

I use some Bullplate Lube on the mold. Careful application with a Q tip. Keep it out of the cavity. I think synthetic chainsaw 2 cycle oil is the same thing.

If you didn't start out with well seasoned wood to make a stock, you may as well figure on starting over. An uncured stock will warp, twist, and do all kinds of nasty things if you expect the rifle to group. If you used Truoil too heavily, it...

I like them to look a bit funky personally. If you are going to clean leather, saddle soap, followed up with Lexol.

I never will! I just got back from taking two correctly folded American flags in to my local VFW, they refused to accept them, told me to take them to the American Legion in town which I did. This must be something new as I've taken them to this VFW...

Advertising in the magazines is not cheap. Probably several thousand a month for a big ad. With the internet, lots cheaper to spread the ads around there.

I've had Hancocks on my last two trucks. Current set has been on nearly ten years, and are still in great condition. I don't drive all that much though.

I pee off the deck pretty much daily, doesn't bother the deer a bit. Something I remember seeing suggested is woven wire staked and suspended about a foot above the ground, laying down. They don't like stepping through the wire. Of course you...

The rosewood definitely will cause respiratory problems in most people. It chokes me up quickly, and the effects last a long time. Rifle builder John King is allergic to walnut, which makes his job a lot harder!

The 6.5X55 is the only chambering P.O. Ackley never wildcatted. He stated that the cartridge was perfect as is, and has no improvements that could be made.

Keep in mind. ROSEWOOD IS POISONOUS! Cut in a well ventilated area, always wear a good dust mask when working it.

Soak with mineral spirits. Once the tape will lift off, use the mineral spirits and a shop rag to rub off the residue.
