I was speaking to a friend of mine recently who services hospital medical equipment. He uses syringes to calibrate these machines. I thought that maybe these syringes could be used to mould boolit lube so he gave me some to try.
The syringes are "Terumo" brand size 50mil. The inside diametre is 1 inch, just the right size for my RCBS Lub a matic. Well I got them home and cut the end off of them. Then mounted them on a piece of timber using spring steel tool holders and hung it on one side of a shelf rack. The bottom holder need to be as fitted but the top one needs to be opened out a bit to prevent distortion when the lube is poured.
I already had some Felix lube in a jug so heated it up and poured it into the syringes/moulds. The lube has to be on the cool side otherwise the syringes can get a wee bit out of shape. I let them cool overnight and the following day, applied slight heat to the syringes, pressed the syringe handle and the tube of hollow lube came right out.
I have got to have another look at securing the wooden rods but the system on the whole works OK. Photos are attached for information. I hope someone may find this useful/interesting.
