do others find they have more lead than they will probably shoot in their lifetime but if your like me, and you find some or get a good deal on some you stockpile even more, you know just in case....

Just in case is always a good reason. I will never pass up or give away lead. You just never know how much you will need down the road.

Beat profusely with hammer until functional.
At my present rate of usage, I will never use what I have. I plan on shooting more at some point so I collect all I can.
I have a BIL who has 3K of wire sheathing lead. I can use all I want as he doen't cast anymore. This is my emergency stash if I run low.
This last weekend I just passed 1000 lbs smelted into ingots. Seems like a large number, looks like a small pile. I get my WWs for free. They will always be worth more than I paid for them. And like SP101GUY said, " You never know how much you will need down the road."
In todays wierd climate, I would not pass on any source of decent lead @ a decent price. I have enough but then again, maybe I don't. It all depends on what gun games I am into at the time.
If for nothing else, you guys have one heck of a retirement nest egg there, I just started again after a 20 year gap, and I'm working on mine, with all these liberals out there you just don't know when the well is going to go dry, keep on saving it guys, you never know.....steg
It is my intention to shoot up all the lead that I have before I die,
Or die shooting up all the lead that I have.
Political correctness is a national suicide pact.
I am a sovereign individual, accountable
only to God and my own conscience.
I can't think of a better barter item than lead, especially in a serious economic situitation. I know we are in a economic situitation now but it could get a whole lot worse. I have a pretty good stash but am always looking for more.
More is always better than less.
Always better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
Don
I have both hope and fear that I will live long enough to shoot up what I have stashed. I have not had to pay for any yet, but with the assumed demise of lead WW's I'm still grabbing all I can get.
I have traded for some soft lead. I won't retire for maybe 5 more years (hopefully). After that, we all have a lot more time for shootin. So, who knows?? Still going be collecting all I can. enjoy Mike
Lead won't be going down in value anytime soon. I just found a stash of cast boolits I bought in the late 80's. There are 500 148 grain wad cutters, and the price tag says $8.00. That is over 10-1/2 pounds, or $0.76 a pound. It didn't go up like gold, but it went up. It is the poor mans silver.

So how much lead do you guys have lying around?
Everytime I pull the trigger I cry a tear for the WW that gave it's life.
I have about 2 5 gallon buckets, and about 3/4 of a milk crate full of ingots. (Small, Lyman ingots for using in Lee 10# pot....)
I have been lazy lately, so I should start gathering again. I have about 1200 pounds of lino- and monotype, and about equal amounts of ww lead melted into ingots.
Never stop collecting lead, when the system fails, we'll be ready.
Improvise,Adapt, OVERCOME.....
It just sits quietly in the garage and I don't have to feed it, so I'll just keep getting what I can, while I can.

One slow hit is better then 500 quick misses. "It ain't the noise that kills 'em!!!!"
Just make sure you collect powder and primers to go with it.Never stop collecting lead, when the system fails, we'll be ready.
